Once Upon A Story

We’ve all heard stories, all throughout our lives. Reading them, listening to them, and learning them have been at the center of our culture, our government, and our daily life. We are charged, not recommended to, but charged with the duty of telling stories within our life, of sharing our stories with the world. Or rather, one Story. His Story.

When we as Christians share our testimony, we must decrease and He must increase within the story. The stories of the world exist for one reason and one reason only: Our God has created the world and His Word has not returned.

The Word became flesh and made His living among us. Isn’t it brilliant that the Author and Perfecter of our personal stories gave us the very thing that stories are composed of? A word. But not just any word. This is the Word. God’s perfect Word is the only story with no plot holes, and this Word became flesh and became known as Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world and the Son of God and Son of Man.

So what makes a good story? We know that we are called to share stories, and the only story that matters and exists is the Word of God. A good story is one where the Word is at the center. Yet that doesn’t necessarily mean that He must be mentioned explicitly.

Esther’s story was meant for such a time as she lived in, it was necessary for her to tell her story or her people would die. One of the possible consequences of not sharing our stories is death. People’s lives are saved through the Word, which is at the center of our stories. Esther shared her story, and God protected her and blessed her. But His name is not mentioned once within the story.

What is necessary for a good story is God’s hand in the story. The Word’s evidence in our daily lives needs to be evidenced through our stories that we share. Whether we write them, tell them, or live them our, He needs to be evident. And that is what makes a good story. At the center, at the core of a good story, He must be there. Nothing else matters because nothing else will remain at the end of time.

Share your story. Share the Word in your life. It is the Great Commission, to tell the Word’s story. The best way for us, us flawed, human beings, to do this is to share the Word’s impact upon our lives.

I don’t know about you all, but this has been one of the least productive writing months for me in a while. And it's been kind of discouraging. Make that really discouraging. You know, this whole year
